about

Heading into a new chapter after the release of 2021's full-length album MMXXI, A Million Machines (MIG) finds himself pealing back the layers of doubt. The song begins with a bleak hypnotic pulsating drum and bass-line. The words and mono tone vocal expression paint an eerie feeling of life's constant disappointments. Meanwhile, the song infuses energy and melody to continue its uncertain path. There's plenty of modular synths accompanied by samplers, guitars and synthesizers in this one.

lyrics

IN THIS CELL

I stand alone and wait
On a fading day
I can hear the sirens sing
Calling someone’s name
And when they promised such a life
But it hasn’t been very nice
You took away
I fell apart
They cast and judge
In this cell

And when they call your name
You will obey
Stand with no one
You are told what to say
And when they promised such a world
But it hasn’t been a very good world
They took away
And you fell apart
I cast judgement on myself

Hit the ground!
Smell the dirt!
You are called on to serve and serve
You know nothing
They don’t care
Where are they taking it now?
And when they promised such a life
But it hasn’t been very nice
They took away
We fell apart
They love to judge in this cell

In your cell today
Alone
Did you sell your faith?

They took away
We fell apart
They love to judge in this cell

In your cell alone
With yourself
The time has come to go
With yourself
Ever come back home?
From your cell
I wish the pain is all I know
In this cell
